Installation of SILJAN floorsInstallation of SILJAN floors

An installation guide is always delivered with the floor.

Allow for a waste allowance of around 3-5% when installing. All SILJAN floors should be stored in unopened packages for around two days in the room before installation. This is so that the floor can adjust to the environment. It doesn't matter what time of year the floor is installed, since it is a living material that adjusts to all climates. A complete installation guide is available to download.

The Miracle Mat for floor installation
Elastilon is a self-adhesive underlay system that makes installing SILJAN solid floors on concrete floors easy. This is a new product that makes screws, nails, glue and clips unnecessary. You'll save both time and money. An on top of that, Elastilon is ideal in combination with underfloor heating.

The floor is installed directly on top of the Elastilon system which keeps the floorboards in place and at the same time allows for the seasonal expansion and contraction of wooden floors without leaving any gaps.

Advantages

  • No deformation of the Elastilon due to the "dry" self-adhesive surface.
  • Quick and easy installation where you will shorten the installation time by half.
  • You don't need to wait for any glue to dry before setting and grinding.
  • No nails or screws in the wood that can become visible after grinding.
  • The elastic qualities of Elastilon makes it extra soft to walk on.
  • A very silent floor.
  • Continuing elasticity even after the floor is installed.

Elastilon (150g/m2) is available 3 mm thick.

Please remember
The room where the floor is to be installed must be clean and dust free. Make sure that the subfloor is completely dry before installation. Hight differences of +/-2 mm per 2 m should be corrected. The relative humidity should be between 35-65%. The temperature should be at least +18°C. When installing Elastilon on concrete subfloors a damp-proofener must be installed beteween the concrete and the Elastilon.
